The main goal of Pulmonary Embolism Rule-out Criteria (PERC) is to minimize unnecessary testing in PE, which is another way of saying, to prevent unnecessary ordering of D-dimer.Please be aware that most of our guidelines for the prophylaxis and treatment of DVT and PE's comes from the American Academy of Chest Surgeons.
This blog is specifically for medical students interested in orthopaedics and orthopaedic residents. It is orthopaedic residency from the attending's perspective.
