PE role out criteria. Although these criteria may not make it as standard here in the US. I thought it was applicable to orthopaedic surgeons.
The main goal of Pulmonary Embolism Rule-out Criteria (PERC) is to minimize unnecessary testing in PE, which is another way of saying, to prevent unnecessary ordering of D-dimer.
Please be aware that most of our guidelines for the prophylaxis and treatment of DVT and PE's comes from the
American Academy of Chest Surgeons.
